“Many see the field of education as a noble career venture. It is far more than that. It is the most complex, misunderstood business challenge that faces America today. I am committed to working as an administrator to facilitate tangible and enduring change, not only because I am a product of the public school system but because I have an innate passion and connection to the students who are most underserved. I believe that my prior professional experience and my role as a Broad Resident will allow me to marry my operations and client relationship skills to help schools better address the needs of the eager students who we serve.”

James Delano Ford currently serves as chief operating officer for KIPP New Orleans Schools. In this role, he is responsible for the services provided to 7 schools through the School Support Center. He is also responsible for the day to day oversight and performance of the following functional areas for KIPP New Orleans Schools: Finance and Accounting, Staff Recruitment, School Operations, Growth and Development, Data and Reporting, Technology and Academics. In this role, Ford has focused on aligning all schools operationally to ensure distributed and equitable quality service to students.

Prior to joining The Broad Residency, Ford was a senior consultant for Capgemini, where he served clients across six industries. By leading and facilitating major organizational changes and information technology implementations, he has helped various organizations change the way that they do business. Prior to Capgemini, Ford worked as a consultant at Accenture, also specializing in PeopleSoft Financials support. Ford also has previous nonprofit experience, having worked for the State of Georgia, The London School of Economics and Chicago Public Schools. Ford participated in The Broad Residency in Urban Education Cohort 2008, serving his two-year Residency in KIPP New Orleans Schools.
